Biography

“I am so absolutely fortunate to do something that I love, and share my gift of music through private flute instruction.  Motivating students to play with expression and to find their own voice on their instrument are some of my primary goals. I began lessons at the age of 8 and just never stopped playing. I will always be thankful to my parents for their generosity and time they dedicated while providing me with exceptional private instruction.  I gained confidence and determination from my music experience.  It gave me the ability to see the positive results of hard work and dedication.  Lessons also taught me how much I can accomplish with detailed and focused practice.”

PRIVATE STUDIO

Annie has a thriving flute studio in the Montgomery area. She has been teaching for over 18 years and has learned so much from her amazing students throughout the years.  Her studio is comprised of students from many surrounding districts, private schools, home school students, and even other states (virtually).  Individualized, one-on-one lessons give Annie the opportunity to develop and apply lesson plans, unique goals, and a curriculum specific to each student.  In turn,  this greatly helps each of her students improve their musical skills.

TEACHING/PERFORMING 

Annie enjoys teaching flute Masterclasses and Sectionals throughout the year for several area schools.  She also enjoys teaching beginning flutes at District 308’s summer band program, and has done so for many years.  Annie views performing with colleagues for various services and events in the area as a fun way to keep up with her musical friends, repertoire and practice!  She feels it is very important to continue her growth as an educator.  To accomplish this, she attends various Masterclasses herself throughout the year.  Fortunately, the amazing diverse flute community offers such opportunities for flutists.
